Setbacks stink.

It's a fact.

I'm not sure if it's the injury (which...do I call it that?--that sounds so dramatic), the changing weather, or just the point I'm at in my training, but I feel myself losing steam. And that's extremely frustrating. However, while this setback absolutely stinks, it hasn't changed my commitment to my training or to this marathon. I grimace more, but that probably makes me look tougher, right?

In an effort to stay positive, one side effect of this setback is excess energy. Fewer miles on the body = me bouncing off the walls. So on the plus side, I'm killing my cross training days. I even got a compliment for kicking the crap out of my last workout. I woke up sore this morning and could only smile. I need the mileage, but until it's time to get back to that, I'm going to live it up with the sled pulls, g/h ab work, bs pushups and other various forms of bodily torture. Other ways to fill the time include cleaning and trying to organize my new living space. I have more clothes in the closet or folded in my drawers vs. laying in a pile on the floor or draped over my bed frame. Not sure how long it will last, but I'll enjoy it for its momentary existence. I wish I could add that I've turned into a lean, mean eating machine, but that remains to be seen.
So...my current challenge is to think happy thoughts. Focus is definitely mind over matter and trying to stay positive.
