Hey Hey December
Holler.
I am sad to announce that I'm officially pulling out of the January race. Because of my calf injury, which my doctor thinks may be a tear, I could fly to Phoenix and run, but not run the race the way I want to. I could risk not finishing or possibly do more damage to the muscle. But I'm not done with this. I'm just rescheduling. Am I disappointed? Very much so. But after multiple conversations with many people close to me, it makes the most sense right now physically, not to mention financially.
Wow. I didn't realize how depressing it is to put that in writing.
Moving on! There are other things on which to place my focus right now. The rest prescribed by the doctor is making me a little crazy, but I'm doing my best to listen. I haven't run in three full weeks which is slightly mortifying, but that's how it is right now. I've kept up with yoga and pilates, and did catch a boot camp last week. I had to modify most of the cardio, but I felt fine doing burpees and can still swing a sledgehammer at a tire with the best of them!! I'm hoping to increase activity this weekend and praying my calf will cooperate. Granted, the prayers are akin to threats, but...patience is not high on the list of my virtues right now, especially for this situation.
Taking advantage of the rest time, I've warily turned my focus to the eating. It shouldn't cause so much angst, but it does. (I'm not sure that will ever change! Thankfully, I'm 100% better than I was.) Since I can't talk about running, expect some forthcoming food posts. I'm not a fad diet girl; I'm a student of lifestyle change. Be watching for info on whole foods, healthy eating and other fun stuff! :)
